I've been here in Mammoth Lakes since Monday. It's not nearly as cold as I expected; yeah I need a jacket at night but I'm still not freezing then either. We went up the mountain once in a gondola and the place is really freaking huge. I'm glad for my ski pass. I keep seeing sports equipment shops with lovely, shiny skis and I want to buy my set already.
However, I probably can't because I fell off the porch on my first evening here, so my ankle is kind of twisted. Hopefully it'll be better by the time I start work. I am a terrible clum-clum. But rest assured that once I am fully settled in with work and all that, I will obtain my skiing gear and get back up to double-diamond snuff.
I finally got around to meeting my chef this afternoon, which was kind of a relief. Apparently he lives in the same building as me, is what the ladies at housing said. The restaurant, Sushi Rei, is 15 minutes away at my most leisurely crawl, so maybe 10 minutes if I pick up the pace, or I can take the trolley up.
The public transportation here is free, and there are only three lines so it's pretty easy to comprehend. There is one movie theater and it has only two screens I think.
My housing is in the Chutes, it's 6 people in a 6 room apartment, but only two other girls, Christine and Marla, are here right now. They were both at Pasadena too, but patisserie, and in the evening. They're not really my crowd, but I like them fine and we seem to be getting along quite well right now, so that's a relief. Their friend Brandon is over a lot.
I lost my keycard once already, but they apparently don't charge for replacements because Domino's provides them in exchange for having the key be a giant Domino's ad. So we look like we all really love Domino's Pizza that much.
Umm, saw a coyote? I think that's everything.
