So Fernando texted me the other day and the basic gist is, he's unhappy. Russ has no fucking idea how to cut fish but he thinks he does, like he cut fish however the hell he wanted to once and now he's the fucking master of it, or something. News flash, that isn't how it goes. Also I don't know whose brilliant idea it was, but somebody hired eloy again I was like "WTF" and in the text Fernando said "it's a joke" and it's hard to convey disgust via only words so I was going to say "like literally a joke??" But he quickly amended "it's true". He said he was just blown away to see eloy there again, saying he'll work a couple days a week. Haha.

It doesn't matter to me, er us, I guess, because I thought about it and decided I can't work there anymore. I spend so much time angry and unhappy that I'm sure to snap soon, and just storm out in a huff. I still work for mammoth mountain, I believe it might affect my other job if I did. I called Freddy today and asked him if he still had a job for me, and he said yes so I was like "BOOM." When I got to work I told Fernando I was quitting, he didn't seem super surprised about it. I told him I'd already taken a job with Freddy. He reacted about how i expected him to, by making jokes about it.

Ok Fernando has this one berserk button, where he will get incredibly irritated if someone asks him to make a certain roll that he made up and had on his sushi menu over the summer, but they took off when they redid it for winter. He doesn't mind making it when he wants, just doesn't like other people asking him to make it, or just ringing it in without asking him if he wants to make one. Tatiana rang one in, and Fernando refused to make it, so erick asked me to make it, and Fernando got mad about that. He doesn't want them asking us to make it just because he doesn't want to make it, he doesn't want the roll to be made at all. I don't completely understand but it's his berserk button. He immediately squatted down and started texting on his phone, and he seemed calm after that, and a couple minutes later I was like, "hey you okay?" And he was like "yeah, I'm cool. I just quit." And I was like, ".......what." I didn't actually get a chance to tell Russ that I quit because he left before I could, and now I'm going to look like I'm just jumping ship because Fernando is, as opposed to the other way around.

I'm sure Fernando might not have stayed anyway, but the fact that I've decided to go, I think he realized there wasn't much point in staying, not when he doesn't enjoy the job either. He said it motivated him to quit as well. He knows he's fucked once I'm gone.

When I think about this i laugh, me and Fernando just up and quitting within a day of each other. We've come a long way, the two of us. I'm going to offer to work the rest of the days I'm scheduled, but they're going to be hard without Fernando. Also I'm sad that we're parting ways here, at least as far as working together goes. We've been working together for years, but I guess it was going to happen sooner or later.

I also got my paycheck today and they didn't give me the raise I'd asked for, not in the amount I asked for, which was how much they said they would give me, but didn't. So bye bye! Fuck your shitty dollar raise, no other sushi chef has been paid this little, so no. 13 dollars an hour? Keep your chump change. Freddy offered me $12/hr to work in a closed kitchen doing fucking desserts and pantry. Jfc! I was always good at garde manger, so I'm excited. It's a little less money, but not that much less. If I'm happy there I wouldn't mind doing other things too, getting back in a hot kitchen, and I've gained a lot of finesse doing sushi, so making pretty desserts shouldn't be difficult at all. Also that place is gorgeous and HUGE, it makes Underground look tiny. I know a lot of people there too, so I'm sure I'll have a good time. Sade, Nate, Mike, Jackie, and Chris Dickinson all work there, cdicki is actually the assistant manager. I'm excited to start working there.
